        Should be 1. , 1(a), 1(a)(i), 1(a)(ii), etc.

        Not 1., 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.2. That may be appropriate for research papers, but not for identifying sections, subsections, etc. in a piece of legislation.

        Please consult other sites on legislation nomenclature.
